About

Tanya Foster

I am Tanya Foster, a resident of Regina, SK. I am married to my hard-working and fun-loving husband, Chris. I have three adult children and one daughter-in-law who bring me great joy and pride. I work for the Government of Saskatchewan in the area of strategic planning, business improvement, change management, and business analysis. I also teach spin classes at Evolution Fitness Regina.

Prior to joining the Government, I had been a Regina Public School Board teacher for nearly ten years. I taught a variety of grades and subjects, but mostly I taught English. I was also a sessional lecturer at the University of Regina for three years.

Fitness is an important part of my life, but so is reading and writing. I have written a manuscript of short fiction that I am currently editing with the hope that I will publish it one day. I also try to read at least two books every month and I listen to numerous podcasts on politics, economics, social innovation, and leadership. I want always to be learning, gaining a better understanding of the philosophies and beliefs that shape our lives as humans, expanding my knowledge of everything, and learning how to view the world from other people’s perspectives.

In 2016, I was elected as the Regina Public Board of Education Trustee for subdivision five. During that four-year term, I dedicated many hours to learning about and building an understanding of the organization, its structure and culture. I spoke to many staff members to understand the challenges and threats facing the school division. I helped to inform the Division’s strategic plan and budget. I also contributed to a number of new initiatives and helped to strengthen established systems.

Also, I am a Christian and I seek to model my life after Jesus who was kind, gentle, compassionate, empathetic, selfless, servant-hearted, and inclusive. When people are around me, I want them to feel honoured and respected and valued. I am not an ideological Christian, trying to impose my beliefs on others. I have many friends who believe different things than I do. We live in a democratic country and we have the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which guarantees freedom of thought, freedom of belief, freedom of religion, among other rights and freedoms.
